|Day 1||Quito||Welcome to one of the smallest yet most biodiverse countries in South America. Ecuador offers a panorama of scenery and climates-from the Pacific Coast to the rainforest and the Amazon to the high slopes of the Andes. Upon arrival in Quito you will be met by your Local Host, who will help you get acquainted with this fascinating city near the equatorial line.|
|Day 2||Quito||Your included private city TOUR showcases the old part of the city, where colonial history still permeates the air, surrounded by beautiful architecture, and religious and cultural sites. One of the highlights is a visit to San Francisco Square, where you will see the church of La Compania, which has the most ornate and richly sculptured facade and interior. Afterward, visit the famous hill of the old town, Panecillo ('Little Bread'), where you will see the Virgen de Quito angel statue. Finish off your tour at a bustling Ecuadorian market. (B)|
|Day 3||Quito||Today, experience the traditional ways of the Otavalo people. With your Local Host visit Otavalo's famous INDIAN MARKET, full of textiles, clothes, vegetables, and much more. Enjoy the drive here, as it passes the often snow-capped Cayambe Volcano. The Ecuadorian Line goes directly through the glacier of the immense volcano, which is the highest worldwide point on the Ecuadorian line. Next, visit a local SCHOOL in Peguche to visit with Ecuadorian children. Enjoy lunch at a local hacienda before returning to Quito. (B,L)|
|Day 4||Banos||Journey south with your Local Host, passing the 'Avenue of the Volcanoes,' to visit COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK, a highland zone protected since 1975. On a walk near Lake Limpiopungo you will have the chance to learn about the typical vegetation and fauna found in the area. Enjoy breathtaking views of Cotapaxi Volcano, standing over 19,000 feet. Next, visit a ROSE PLANTATION, where you can observe the cultivation and harvest of this important export and witness the exceptional beauty of the Ecuadorian rose. Continue to Banos, known for its famous hot springs that give the area its name. Relax in the mild mountain climate at one of the HOT SPRINGS at your hotel. (B,L,D)|
|Day 5||Riobamba||You'll have time this morning to view some of Banos' impressive waterfalls before heading to Riobamba in the shadow of Ecuador's highest volcano, Chimborazo, rising over 20,000 feet in altitude. (B,D)|
|Day 6||Cuenca||An unforgettable TRAIN TRIP takes you over the almost vertical wall of rock called the Devil's Nose. This engineering marvel allows the train to transit a zigzag path cut into the mountainside that ascends and descends over 3,000 feet. Continue to Cuenca with your Local Host, stopping at the INGAPIRCA RUINS, Ecuador's most important monument of pre-Spanish culture. The ruins are located on a grass-covered hill once used as a sun-worshiping temple. Even before the construction of the sun temple (1450-1480), this place had an important spiritual significance for the Incas. On a walk through the ruins, learn about Inca beliefs, rituals, and the way they constructed this place, built in the shape of a puma. (B,L,D)|
|Day 7||Cuenca||Enjoy a private guided TOUR of Cuenca, the third-largest city in Ecuador and considered one of the most beautiful. See the historical buildings along the Tomebamba River, the Todos los Santos ruins, the flower market, and the main square with the old and new cathedral. Afterward, visit a PANAMA HAT FACTORY and a POTTERY STUDIO, where you can learn more about the work of the local people. (B,L)|
|Day 8||Guayaquil||Transfer with your Local Host to the coastal town of Guayaquil, stopping along the way to visit a CACAO PLANTATION. Learn about the cultivation of the cacao fruit, harvesting, and the processing of this important industry for Ecuador. On to Guayaquil, Ecuador's largest and most industrial city and the key to Ecuador's trade center. The rest of your day is at leisure to explore the city. (B)|
|Day 9||Galapagos Cruising: Santa Cruz Island||Take a morning flight to Baltra, one of the remote Galapagos Islands. Upon arrival, travel with your expert Naturalist through the highlands of SANTA CRUZ ISLAND, where you will learn about the unique ecosystems of the archipelago. After lunch, travel to EL CHATO RESERVE to see and learn about the Galapagos Giant Tortoises living in the wild. Head to Puerto Ayora, where you will board the luxury La Pinta, your home for the next four nights. (B,L,D)|
|Day 10||Cruising: Santa Cruz Island||After breakfast, disembark on the green-colored beaches of Whale Bay on SANTA CRUZ ISLAND. Walk along a trail that leads to an old watering hole once used by former settlers and keep an eye out for boobies, land birds, and marine iguanas. This afternoon, explore the tiny island of SOMBRERO CHINO, which gets its name from its appearance: a Chinese hat. This islet, only formed fairly recently, makes for a beautiful visit as you explore the wildlife along its quarter-mile-long trail, which begins at a crescent-shaped, white sandy beach. The cove offers excellent swimming and snorkeling opportunities with white-tipped reef sharks and Galapagos penguins. (B,L,D)|
|Day 11||Cruising: Bartolome & Santiago Islands||Disembark at BARTOLOME ISLAND and hike to the summit for a stunning view of two beautiful bays and fascinating formations of lava flows and spatter cones, including iconic Pinnacle Rock. You will also have the chance to snorkel and possibly see Galapagos penguins in tropical waters and even some sharks! This afternoon on SANTIAGO ISLAND, land at Sullivan Bay, an area covered in extensive lava fields formed about 100 years ago. The white-sand beach is great for swimming and snorkeling and is also where you can spot Galapagos penguins, sea lions, Sally Lightfoot crabs, blue-footed boobies, and maybe even a Galapagos hawk. |Day 12||Cruising: Genovesa Island||This morning, disembark at Darwin Bay on GENOVESA ISLAND to observe thousands of birds-mainly frigatebirds, red-footed and masked boobies, gulls, herons, finches, and mockingbirds. Return to the beach for swimming and snorkeling in this beautiful natural harbor. Later today, visit Prince Philip's Steps, beginning with a scenic panga ride along the cliffs to see the large number of shorebirds and seabirds nesting in the cliffs' ledges. Disembark at the base of Prince Philip's Steps and climb up the stairs to a trail where birdlife abounds. A walk with your Naturalist reveals large colonies of masked boobies, blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds, storm petrels, and even short-eared owls. (B,L,D)|
|Day 13||Guayaquil||After breakfast, disembark your ship in Baltra and head to the airport for your flight to Guayaquil. (B)|

Booking your Vacation with Air
For air departure dates within 331 days, you'll be offered a choice of carriers and flight schedules as well as price points to choose from when selecting your flights. Your schedule will be provided to you at the time of booking (schedules are subject to change by carriers). Monograms offers 2 air options: Flex Air and Instant Purchase Air. Flex Air allows flexibility if you want to make changes to your vacation schedule. Instant Purchase Air may offer additional airline options but has more restrictions. Some vacations may only offer one Air type option. Guaranteed air-inclusive prices: air is only available to passengers traveling from the United States and only available when booked in conjunction with a land vacation. An additional $300 per person non-refundable air deposit is required for Flex Air booked in conjunction with any land vacation (i.e. air-inclusive vacation). Air can only be booked by Monograms in conjunction with a vacation package. Instant Purchase Air requires air payment in full at time of booking (i.e. air-inclusive vacation) plus non-refundable service fee ($30 per person for North America, $80 per person for South Pacific, $50 per person for all other destinations). Once booked, Instant Purchase Air is non-refundable, and non-changeable. Some vacations may only offer one Air type option. However, once your airfare is confirmed and Monograms has received your full air and land deposit, your air-inclusive vacation price is guaranteed.

Air-inclusive vacations include government-imposed taxes and fees applicable at the time of booking and will be shown as a Total Amount. Additional airline fees for baggage may apply. At the time of booking your air-inclusive vacation online, carrier Websites will be provided to check baggage fees, or you can visit www.iflybags.com for up-to-date baggage pricing/restrictions. For return travel from some countries, international travelers are required to pay entry and/or exit fees at the airport. These fees will be collected by the local government and are payable by the traveler at time of travel. Your confirmation booking information will contain information about these fees.
