Wurzburg : We will arrive in Frankfurt where our group is met by our tour escort and private motor coach. Transfer to Wurzburg. First used as a fortification by Celts, the city was the site of the martyrdom of St. Kilian, Christian missionary, in 689. Wurzburg was founded by Christianized Franks and in 741 became an episcopal see. Here we enjoy a guided city tour including visits to the Romanesque Cathedral, the 15th Century stone bridge spanning the Main River, the Marienberg Fortress which sits atop the city walls and the Ducal Palace. .Dinner will be at our hotel this evening. Day 3
Eichstatt
Eichstatt : Breakfast at will be at our hotel this morning before continuing to Eichstatt. Visit the monastery of St. Walburg in Eichstatt. St. Walburga was a Benedictine nun who served as a became a missionary in this area. Her relics and memory are preserved today at the abbey, which was founded in 1035 to care for her shrine. Continue with a sightseeing tour of Eichstatt. Dinner and overnight in Eichstatt. (B,D)
Day 4
Regensburg
Regensburg : This morning, after breakfast, we will depart for Regensburg. Upon arrival, begin your tour of "Germany's best-preserved medieval city." Regensburg escaped damage from Allied bombs in World War II, so the churches, patrician mansions, towers, Roman walls and other historic structures that we will experience are original. We will wander through the Altstadt with its 13th to 15th Century houses and cross the Steinerne Brucke (Stone Bridge), which has carried traders and tourists across the Danube since the 1100s. Dinner tonight at a local Bavarian restaurant. Overnight in Regensburg. (B,D)
Day 5
Altotting
Altotting : We will depart Regensburg for Altotting. Altotting is Germany's most famous Marian shrine, receiving over a million pilgrims each year. Home to the "Black Madonna", the town is referred to as the "Heart of Bavaria" and the Chapel of Grace, a small building in the Baroque chapel square, is its spiritual center. We will also, visit St. Konrad monastery and St. Anna Basilica in Altotting. We cap our tour with a visit of the monumental cyclorama "Jerusalem-Panorama Crucifixion of Christ" (1903) in Altotting Leisure time this afternoon. Dinner will be at our hotel this evening. (B,D)
Day 6
Prien
Prien : Today we make a lovely journey to Prien at Lake Chiemsee where we will visit the Fraueninsel, including the cloister church. Continue to Herrenchiemsee island. Herrenchiemsee is the largest island in the "Bavarian Sea". and is famed for the palace built by Bavaria's e legendary King Ludwig II. The royal palace, fountains and the palace grounds were modeled on Versailles. Leisure time this afternoon and dinner at our hotel in Prien. (B,D)
Day 7
Oberammergau
Oberammergau : We will breakfast this morning before checking -out and continuing to Oberammergau. Our Catholic faith comes alive in the enactment of the Passion of Christ, performed every ten years since 1634. Attendance of this play will be the highlight of our visit to Bavaria. Dinner this evening at your hotel. Overnight in Oberammergau (B,D)
Munich : We will depart Oberammergau this morning for Munich. En route, we will visit Wieskirche. Upon arrival in Munich, participate in a guided city tour of the city including the Old Town and the Church of our Lady (Liebfrauenkirche). The balance of day will be at leisure.
